Affiliate marketing is a way of marketing a product, using distributors or affiliates working on a sales commission base. All major programs, and products have a "affiliates" link at the bottom of their distribution or product page.

When you register as a affiliate, you receive a certain link corresponding to your registered id. The affiliate would then spread this link accros the internet and all sales made via this link, will register as sales made by the affiliate. The money is then payed through click bank or paypal, depending on the company.

A lot of people that write e-books about certain niches, distribute their e-book through affiliate banks like clickbank. The writer would upload their e-book onto Click bank, and click bank would then load the product into their product range where registered click bank affiliates can create what they call a hoplink. This is the link that would make the sale.

In other words, writers dont have to worry about the marketing or distribution of their product.
